NILES – It was just what the doctor ordered for the Brandywine varsity football team.
The Bobcats traveled to Three Oaks to take on winless River Valley in a Lakeland Conference clash.
Brandywine scored 27 points in the opening quarter and never looked back in a 60-0 victory.
"Tonight was something the team really needed after the meat grinder schedule we have had to play," Brandywine coach Terry Borr said. "There is a song called 'Don't Blink' and we have dedicated it to our seniors because I told them if they blink the season will be over."
Joel Perry got the Bobcats off and running as he scored on a 14-yard run in the opening quarter.
Danny Williams then caught a 65-yard pass from Perry to make it 14-0 after Greg Beaver tacked on his second extra point kick.
Brandywine (3-4, 2-3 Lakeland) extended its lead to 20-0 when Joshoil Benjamin scored on a 26-yard run.
The first quarter came to a close with the Bobcats up 27 points thanks to a 25-yard run by Caleb Frazier and a Beaver kick.
Frazier opened up the second quarter scoring with a 55-yard run.
Also scoring in the third quarter was Beaver, who raced in from 12-yards out.
Beaver then returned an interception 85-yards for a touchdown to complete the first half scoring spree.
Up 46-0 at halftime, the Bobcats tried to slow down the pace, but Brandywine scored twice in the third quarter on runs of 5- and 55-yards by Will Coar and Warren Watson respectively.
Brandywine stayed out of the end zone in the final quarter.
The Bobcats return home Friday night to host Bridgman in another Lakeland contest.
