NILES – The Four Flags Area Apple Festival executive committee, along with the emergency management team for the City of Niles, elected to shut the festival down and clear the grounds on Thursday, late evening, for the safety of all guests.
Radar indicated a severe storm with damaging winds with weak rotation heading in the direction of our area.
In order to give ample time for everyone to leave safely, a decision was made to clear the festival grounds.
Because the Four Flags Area Apple Festival Board of Directors cannot control the weather, nor are they in a financial position to offer refunds for wrist bands purchased Thursday, they ask for festival-goers understanding and continued support.
