ST. JOSEPH – Michael Kurina scored in the 66th minute Wednesday night to give host Lake Michigan Catholic a 1-0 victory over Brandywine in a non-conference soccer match.
The Lakers out shot the Bobcats 11-7 in the match. Brandywine goalkeeper Brian Exner was credited with nine saves.
"We played well enough to win, but they took advantage of their chances and we didn't," Brandywine coach Jim McNamara said. "We hit the post, missed a breakaway, hit shots at the goalie, but couldn't put the ball in the net.
We made some strides in certain areas, but in others we still struggle. The one thing with these young men, they always give a great effort and want to do well," he added.
The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday night, but was moved to Wednesday.
