Brandywine volleyball team falls to Edwardsburg

NILES – Lakeland Conference co-leader Edwardsburg handed visiting Brandywine a three game defeat on Wednesday night.
The Lady Eddies defeated the Lady Bobcats 25-7, 25-16 and 25-20.
Katie Smallwood led Brandywine with a kill and five blocks. Kendra Zache added two kills and a block, while Missy Cooper and Jenna Harris both had a kill. Harris also had a block.
According to coach Sara Eaton, Alexa Perry played well defensively.
The Brandywine freshmen volleyball team defeated Edwardsburg 25-18 and 26-24.
Kelsey Prestly, Morgan Smallwood and Haley Whitehead all had two kills each.
In junior varsity action, the Lady Eddies defeated the Lady Bobcats, 25-23 and 25-22.
Katie Robbins was the top hitter for Brandywine, while Audrey Simmons was the top defensive player.
Evie Tafunai led the Lady Eddies with 13 kills, 12 digs and a block.
Edwardsburg (16-3-1, 3-0 Lakeland) also got 11 kills, six blocks and 12 digs from Stephanie Koontz.
Elise Mackling chipped in with eight kills, seven digs and five blocks, while C.C. Roberts finished the night with 34 assists, an ace and six digs.
The Lady Eddies got 24 digs and two aces from Callie Brey and 11 digs and two aces from Jeni Bollenbacher.
