Bucks falls to Bees

BUCHANAN – The Buchanan boys' varsity tennis team suffered another Lakeland Conference setback on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bucks were dealt their first league loss last week to Berrien Springs. That broke a streak of over ten seasons without a conference loss. Tuesday's 5-3 defeat came at the hands of the Bridgman Bees.
Bridgman swept all four singles matches while the Bucks captured the lower three flights in doubles action. Max Gorton and Holly Lucas, Tyler Toney and Tyler Siebert,and Zack Devereaux and Kevin Watson posted the victories for Buchanan.
The outcome rested on the shoulders of the No. 1 doubles team of Harper Sulier and Greyson Oake of the Bucks wanted to come out with a tie.
The opening set went to Sulier and Oake 6-2. Bridgman's team of Charlie Pawlick and David Englund battled back in the second set for a 6-1 win to even up the match.
Bridgman sealed the conference win with a 6-4 victory in the third set. Buchanan drops to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in league play.
