BUCHANAN – Buchanan dropped a Lakeland Conference varsity soccer game to visiting Berrien Springs Monday evening 3-2.
The Shamrocks' Jordan Carrigan put his team up 1-0 at 27:58.
Buchanan tied the score with just under five minutes to play in the first half on a goal by Dylon Arnold on an assist by A.J. Knight.
"Again we started a game not playing our best the first 10 minutes," Buchanan coach Brian Pruett said. "Berrien Springs had the ball on our side of the field the first 10 minutes and it looked like it could have been an 8-0 game if you watched the first five to ten minutes. Then all of a sudden we picked it up, we got and goal and it seemed to make us play harder. After that goal the play was on our side of the field."
Berrien's Chabu Chapi nailed a 45-yard shot over the head of Buchanan keeper Tyler Knisley at the 33 minute of the second half to give the Shamrocks a 2-1 lead.
"After the 40-45 yard goal that kind of got the spirits down a little bit," Pruett said.
Less then 10 minutes later Landon Foster stretched the Berrien Springs lead to 3-1 knocking in the loose ball in front of the net after Knisley made a save but the ball squirted out of his grasp and Foster booted it in for the score.
Buchanan's Paul Kidd broke away and punched the ball in for the Bucks second goal of the game at the 5:38 mark of the second half.
Down one the Bucks moved the ball aggressively as time slipped off the clock in an effort to even the score but came up short as time expired.
The Bucks play at River Valley on Thursday.
