NILES – The Niles junior varsity volleyball team reached the semifinals of the Portage Northern Invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Vikings were eliminated by Battle Creek Lakeview 25-16 and 25-18.
In reaching the semifinals, Niles lost to Rockford (25-6, 25-13), split with Kalamazoo Hackett (25-18, 21-25), defeated Comstock (25-13, 25-19) and split with Portage Northern (25-21, 18-25).
The Lady Vikings defeated Hackett in the quarterfinals 25-12 and 26-24.
Savannah Wolnik led the team in kills with 12, while Rachel Hartman finished with 11 kills.
Alexis McIntee top the squad with three blocks. Lindsey Lucero finished the tournament with three aces.
Niles is back in action tonight as it travels to Dowagiac for a non-conference match. Play is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
