Where did the Britney who used to inspire go?

What a performance by Britney Spears. I give her two thumbs – one up and one down. That was the best lip-syncing and dancing performance I have ever seen. And her outfit – oh boy! She looked like a high class stripper. Good news for parents as the next big fashion trend may require little or no money at all. Just sew a few pieces of whatever you have on hand together and walla! Your child can be Britney too! She sure set the standards high.
Ok, now for my real introduction.
What a performance by Britney Spears – an unforgettable one at that. She wanted to make the headlines (again) and she sure succeeded.
I was one of the lucky ones who didn't see her performance Sunday night on MTV. In fact, I was watching real television – football. The Giants and the Cowboys to be exact. I don't even think I knew the MTV awards were going on until I heard the nonstop headlines about the performance the next morning.
I'm a huge music fan. I take after my dad when it comes to that. I like a wide variety of music. In fact, some of my favorite songs come from the 70s and 80s. But when it comes down to the MTV shows, I could care less anymore.
I'll admit, there are a few shows I am addicted to (like The Hills and Newport Beach), but whatever happen to actual music videos? It's all worthless reality now. They need to replace the M with an R and make it Reality TV. Give someone else the rights to MTV. Someone who will actually play music.
Well, I got off the subject fast. Anyway back to sleazy, I mean Spears.
As I said I did not see the performance. I finally watched it on the internet Tuesday after missing most of the replayed clips on the news and talk shows. I was embarrassed for that poor girl. It made me feel bad just watching her. I almost want to say it was an act to get this kind of reaction, but I don't want to use any excuses for her. It was pathetic.
Whatever happened to the girl who used to make people get up and dance? The girl who was such an inspiration to so many across the world? I think her only fans now will consist of – well – maybe Paris, since they both dress a little on the obscene side anyway.
Britney introduced her new song "Gimme More." Yeah, that they should have done. I can think of plenty other song titles that would have fit the moment. How about "Gimme More Clothes," "Gimme More Time to rehearse," Gimme another wig," or "Gimme a new trainer." I could have fun with that list, unfortunately I can't write my other thoughts.
I think the best part about her whole performance is when the cameras get the reaction of audience members – like rapper 50 Cent and Rihanna. Their facial expression were hysterical.
But, in all reality, I do feel bad for her and her managers should be fired for even letting her perform in that kind of way.
I had the honor of seeing Britney in concert about four years ago when she was actually good. Yes, she did lip-sync in concert, but not to every song. Just the upbeat tunes that required a lot of dancing. For the slower songs, she actually sang. I was impressed though. Her dancing skills were phenomenal and she was so tiny. It's amazing how different people actually look in person. I think she only stands about 5'2 or 5'3.
But those were Britney's glory days. She had hit after hit and was the "it" girl. Now, I think I can easily say her career may be over. It's time to concentrate on the two most important things in her life – booze and wigs – I mean her children. What kind of an example is she setting for them anyway? Especially when they see that tape as they get older. I bet they will be so proud.
At least one celebrity with a Britney past shined. Justin Timberlake took home four awards, including Male Artist of the Year. I'll admit, he's got a great CD. I watched a few other clips on the internet and I was able to see that both Timberlake and I share the same frustration – play more music! Timberlake made smirky remarks after a few of his speeches, suggesting MTV play more music. I second that!
Well, enough celebrity talk. I wasn't even going to talk about this incident, but oh well. It was fun.
Just wait, next we'll see Britney being joined on stage by the girl who was kicked off American Airlines for wearing revealing clothing (her skirt, too short, no way!). They would make a good pair (obviously not of pants.)
Britney was right after all, she's not that innocent. In fact, I'm not sure she's much of anything anymore.
