The Dowagiac girls' cross country team was defeated by host Plainwell Tuesday afternoon 15-49.
The Chieftains did not have enough boys to field a squad against the Trojans.
Taylor Mann of Plainwell won the girl's race with a time of 23:41.
Dowagiac's Chelsey Preston was seventh overall with a time of 25:56.
Leana Allen finished 10th with a time of 28:29, while Catie Hamilton was 12th (28:35), Kayla Saviano 13th (28:42) and Ali Hess 18th (32:29).
Plainwell's Brandon Zeluff was the overall winner in the boy's race as he posted a time of 18:24.
Justin Richter finished 13th for the Chieftains with a time of 24:22, while Brandon Wilson was 15th with a time of 234:44.
"Our athletes responded pretty well to a tough course," Dowagiac coach Ken Jordan said. "Any course with a hill named 'Agony' is a challenge. Chelsey Preston continues to run well, finishing only six seconds out of fourth place."
Dowagiac will travel to Battle Creek on Saturday to take part in Lakeview's invitational.
