NILES – For one half the visiting Brandywine soccer team played even with Berrien Springs.
But in the second half, the Shamrocks took advantage of a Bobcat letdown to score four times and take a 5-1 Lakeland Conference victory.
"We played very even the first half and moved the ball well," Brandywine coach Jim McNamara said. "In the second half we just went through the motions and didn't play with the emotion necessary to excel. We continue to make progress in certain areas, but our youth keeps showing up in important areas. We will turn the corner because they are hard workers and want to do well."
The Shamrocks struck first as Sam Kwarteng scored off an assist by Chabu Chapi in the 15th minute.
The Bobcats responded quickly as Jake Harris scored in the 16th minute with an assist from Aaron Marquardt.
It was all Berrien Springs from there.
Joel Adu, Chapi, Fernando Hiddigo and D.J. Wolter all scored second half goals.
Adu scored in the 44th minute, as did Chapi. Hiddigo and Wolter scored in the 54th and 68th minutes respectively.
Chapi and Carrigan recorded assists on the first two Shamrock goals.
Berrien Springs held a 17-7 advantage in shots on goal. Casey Zandarski finished with six saves for the Shamrocks, while Brian Exner had 11 stops.
