NILES – For the first time in five years, the Niles Piecemakers will be holding a quilt show at St. John's United Church of Christ.
"We have a lot of nice quilts, as well as boutiques, a silent auction for mini quilts and a quilt we will be auctioning off for Habitat for Humanity," chairman of the committee Kristi Warmoth said.
The show will take place today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. Admission is $3.
There are over 150 quilts, made mostly by guild members. They vary in size, color and patterns, and Warmoth said they have had excellent responses from people who are thankful the show has returned.
"People just didn't want to be involved with it anymore. It takes a lot of work and the people who were involved got tired. The only way I wanted to is if I had good helpers behind me and so far I have. Everyone has been great," Warmoth said.
Along with the quilts, a few antiques will be on hand, as well as five vendors.
"There are a lot of good selections," Warmoth added.
Part of the money raised from the show will help local agencies, including Blossomland Learning, The Pregnancy Care Center, The Buchanan Police Department and Polly's Place.
"We do this to help others as well. That's another reason I think people are excited it's back," Warmoth said.
St. John's United Church of Christ is located at 601 Sycamore St.
