EDWARDSBURG – A 2-year-old girl, identified as Serenity Owens of Elkhart, Ind., drowned while visiting a home in the 25000 block of Kenneth Avenue, according to the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Chief Kenneth Wray.
The child was one of several in the backyard of the home, her mother told police, when she noticed Serenity was not with the others.
Spotting the child in the pool, the mother pulled her out and went to the house to call 911. She was not able to be revived at the scene and was pronounced dead at Elkhart Hospital, Elkhart, Ind.
