Niles JV beaten; freshmen team win

NILES – Sturgis proved to be no match for the Niles junior varsity football team Thursday night.
The Vikings defeated the Trojans 40-28 in their first win of the season.
Niles was down by one point going into halftime, but held Sturgis scoreless for the remainder of the game.
David Garner had three touchdowns on the night, including an interception which he returned 70-yards. Aaron Davis, Kyle Miller and Cameron Sly also scored for the Vikings.
Defensively, Cal Poehlman and Mitchell Peterek each had a fumble recovery.
The Vikings return home Thursday night to face Kalamazoo Central.
The Niles freshmen football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 37-0 victory over host Sturgis Thursday night.
