Niles' Katie Bourbonnais and Buchanan's Marquis Hall have been selected as the first Leader Publications Athletes of the Week for the Niles Daily Star.
Hall rushed for 205 yards and scored three touchdowns, including the game-winner, as Buchanan defeated Centreville in its season opener 32-28.
Bourbonnais had 26 kills and 17 blocks as Niles finished third in the Gull Lake Invitational volleyball tournament on Saturday.
Each week one boy and one girl will be selected as the Athlete of the Week.
The athletes are selected from nominations from their coaches.
