Author Jonathan Safran Foer will speak Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. at Dowagiac Middle School.
Presented by the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival, Foer is the fall feature in a long line of noted authors, the very best in current literary figures.
Foer is the author of the widely acclaimed and best selling "Everything is Illuminated" and "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close."
Foer traveled to Ukraine in 1999 to research his grandfather's life.
This trip resulted in the inspiration for his debut novel, Everything is Illuminated, published in 2002 by Houghton Mifflin.
The book garnered him a National Jewish Book Award and a Guardian First Book Award.
Everything is Illuminated was enthusiastically reviewed by some of the most heralded writ ers of our time including John Updike, Salman Rushdie, Isabel Allende, Joyce Carol Oates, Jeffrey Eugenides and Russell Banks.
Reception tickets, which include premium seating at the lecture and admission to the private reception for Foer, are limited and are available at $60.
