Back to school: Students return to class Sept. 4

The first day of school for students attending the Dowagiac Union Schools for the 2007-2008 school year is Tuesday, Sept. 4.
THE FIRST DAY WILL BE A FULL DAY OF SCHOOL.
Transportation will be provided for all bus students EXCEPT KINDERGARTEN AND YOUNG FIVES.
Parents are responsible for Kindergarten/Young Five transportation on the FIRST DAY ONLY.
You will be receiving a post card in the mail indicating your students' routing information.
If you do not receive a post card, please call the transportation department at 782-4482 for the information.

Registration for new students will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 22 and 23.
Counselors will be available on Aug. 23 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Counselors will not be making changes to previously existing schedules at this time.
Parents/guardians of new students must accompany student(s) to register and are asked to bring the student's birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card and a copy of the last report card.
High school freshmen orientation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. in the DUHS cafeteria.
Any freshman who is unable to attend should contact the high school office at 782-4420.

Registration will begin for new seventh and eighth grade students Monday, Aug. 20.
The counseling office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
Incoming seventh grade students and students who have not previously attended Dowagiac Middle School will receive their schedules during the new student/parent orientation session Monday, Aug. 27, beginning at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the new middle school.
Returning eighth grade students will receive their schedules on Aug. 31.
Student names that start with A-O may pick them up from 8 a.m. to noon; students whose names start with P-Z may pick up their schedules from 1-3 p.m.
