BUCHANAN – The Working Person's Store, a leading multi-channel resource for quality work apparel, announced Monday that it will expand into a 27,000 square foot Operations Center in Buchanan. This move will open the doors for about 50 new jobs in southwest Michigan over the next three months.
"WPS will be adding 50 new jobs in the Buchanan facility. In an effort to retain every working person possible, a smaller call center and operations team will continue to function in Lakeville, Ind. We have worked hard to retain as many people as possible and that these new jobs are in fact new. As we launch our first printed catalog this year and gear up for the busy holiday season we look forward to expanding our team even more," Eric Deniger said Tuesday.
Since 1995, The Working Person's Store has grown into a leading multi-channel resource for quality work apparel, footwear and safety-gear by leading brands such as Carhartt, Dickies, Wolverine Boots and Shoes, Timberland PRO Boots, Bates Shoes and Boots, Dr. Martens Shoes, Riggs Workwear and a hundred other great name brands.
The Working Person's Store was the 2006 Indiana Excellence Gold Award Winner for Technology, while its online e-commerce catalog division, WorkingPerson.com was cited with a "Webby" Honoree Award for its accomplishments in web site content, structure, navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity and customer experience. Among the top 500 web sites, the Lakeville, Ind, based company was ranked third in overall growth, and was the fastest growing e-retailer in the apparel category.
"We have been able to grow quickly because we have a world class team of people who really understand search optimization, we offer fantastic products at fantastic prices and we have a great team of people working to serve working people," Deniger said.
The WorkingPerson.com Operations Center shared space at its 33,000 square foot Buchanan facility with its technology enablement partner, AVID Commerce, LLC. Together, the two will make the move to its new facility, which is located at the old hospital on Main Street.
Deniger said Working Person's Store will work from the first and second floors and Avid Commerce, the tech team behind the web site, operates on the third floor.
"The building we are in now is located in Lakeville, Ind. and is fondly remembered by people as the home of the old Oliver Tractor distributor.
"Our retail store will remain in Lakeville and our distribution center and call center will move to Buchanan," Deniger said.
Deniger credited the company's fast growth because of the world class team of people who really understand search optimization.
"We offer fantastic products at fantastic prices and we have a great team of people working to serve working people," Deniger added.
