DOWAGIAC – It could be considered a "local institution" of sorts. The event is becoming synonymous with its host city of Dowagiac.
It's the Original and Genuine Road and Trail Race, aka Steve's Run.
The 33rd running of Steve's Run, the Original Road and Trail race, is set for a 9 a.m. start on Saturday, in downtown Dowagiac. Over 1,000 participants are expected to compete in the 10K run, 5K run and 5K walk. A 1K fun run is also scheduled at 9:03 a.m.
Registration can be done online or on Friday night and Saturday morning prior to the race.
To register online up to 48 hours before the race, go to sw-mich.edu/fireup/stevesrun. Cost is $16. Friday night special registration is from 5-8 p.m. at the Dowagiac Train Depot.
Registration cost is $18. Pre-registration packets may be picked up at the depot on Friday. The Wood Fire Tratorria will have a special runner's buffet. Race day registration cost is $22. Pre-registration packets can be picked up at the train depot, as well as last minute registration from 7-8:30 a.m. Saturday.
