NILES – Five individuals were appointed to the City of Niles Design Review Board at Monday evening's City Council meeting.
Jeanne Watson, Fredda Zeiter, Mark Whitfield, James Kupfer and Juan Ganum were approved to the board, effective immediately and expiring Dec. 31, 2009.
In other news, the board approved a request by Elaine Tughan of Niles for the City to subordinate its existing mortgage in the amount of $25,000 for property located at 220 E. Main St.
Also, the board approved a request from the Utilities Department to purchase a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid vehicle from Campbell Ford of Niles in the amount of $23,882.58.
The Board also approved a request from Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church to temporarily block off Ferry Street between Sixth and Seventh Streets and Sixth Street between Ferry and Cass Streets in order to facilitate a Community Outreach Block Party.
