2 here arrested on drug, gun charges

NILES – Two people were arrested following a search at a home in Niles Township Tuesday evening.
Berrien County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit, Berrien County Sheriff's Niles Township Patrol and the Niles Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant at 9:30 p.m. at 1801 Fulkerson Road, Niles.
Carl Devon Carter, 37, of that address, was charged with allegeded possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug house, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and convicted felon in possession of a firearm
Also arrested was Katrina Louise Fox, 28, of that address, for alleged possession of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.
According to the sheriff's report, the search warrant was the result of a week-long investigation into marijuana sales from that address.
When officers arrived at the residence, they announced their presence and observed Carter run from a bedroom into the bathroom, where he was taken into custody.
Carter, a convicted felon, allegedly had carried a loaded .357 Magnum revolver from the bedroom into the bathroom with him.
Officers also recovered marijuana ($200 street value) from the bathroom. Fox was also arrested inside the residence. Both suspects were lodged in the Berrien County Jail pending arraignment on the charges listed.
Officers also seized $361 cash, a cell phone, and a small safe under civil forfeiture.
