Niles students win trophies

NILES – Five students and one instructor from the Niles Martial Arts Studio participated in the American Taekwondo Association's (ATA) Regional Tournament held on July 14 in LaPorte, Ind.
Over 150 ATA members took part in the day long event.
Representing the Niles Martial Arts Studio were students Mica Lamb, Nina Lamb, Chloe Lamb, Starr Ford, Shawn Ellis, and instructor Billy Joe French III, who won individual awards in the following events:
Mica Lamb: Tiny Tigers – Black Belt Attitude Trophy, Terrific Twirling Medal
Nina Lamb: Green Belt 10 and under – Sparing – third place, Weapons – third place
Chloe Lamb: White Belt 10 and under – Forms- first place, sparing – first place, Weapons – first place
Starr Ford: Brown Belt Girls 12-16 – Sparing – third place
Shawn Ellis: Yellow Belt 10 and under – Sparing – third place
Billie Joe French III: 1st Degree Black Belt – Forms – third place, Sparing – third place, Weapons – second place
