NILES – On Thursday at 8 p.m., the Berrien County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit, Sheriff's Niles Township Road Patrol, and Niles Police Department served a search warrant for narcotics at 915 Sycamore, Niles.
The warrant was the result of a two-week investigation into marijuana sales from that address, officers said in a press release issued Friday.
Officers arrested Tyrone Thomas Harris, 31, inside the residence. He was lodged in the Berrien County Jail pending arraignment on the following charges: possession of marijuana, second offense and maintaining a drug house, second offense.
A second resident was interviewed and will not be charged.
Officers seized marijuana and other drug evidence from the residence. During a search of the area, Niles PD K9 Officer Chad Mitchell discovered a .45 semi-automatic pistol and magazines hidden in a rag in the backyard.
An investigation into the weapon is continuing and additional charges may be requested.
