Tournaments continue all weekend

NILES – Day one of the Cal Ripken Baseball state tournaments at Howard Township's Pepper Martin Park and Brandywine's Fireman's Youth Park are in the books.
Play continues today with a full slate of games.
Meanwhile, over at Thomas Stadium, the Michigan District 15 Little League tournament was set to kick off at 11:30 a.m. today.
The 9-year-old All-Stars will finally hit the field today at Fireman's Park.
Howard Township was scheduled to take on Lanse Cruse North at 9 a.m., while Brandywine was set to face Benton Harbor at 11 a.m.
There will also be a consolation game at 3 p.m. and the championship semifinals at 7 p.m.
In the 10-year-old division, The first consolation game of the day is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The championship semifinals will be held at 5 p.m., while the second consolation game is slated for 9 p.m.
The tournament will continue on Sunday at 11 a.m. for the 9-year-olds and 1 p.m. for the 10-year-olds.
Out at Pepper Martin Park, the 12-year-olds will open up the second day of play at 1 p.m.
Benton Harbor is scheduled to face the Howard Township-Clinton Valley winner at 1 p.m.
There is also a consolation game set for 3 p.m., the championship semifinals set for 5 p.m. and a consolation game for 7 p.m.
The 11-year-old division will get started an hour later as Lanse Cruse North is set to face the winner of the Howard Township battle at 2 p.m.
A consolation game will follow at 4 p.m. and then the championship finals at 6 p.m.
A second consolation game is slated to get under way at 8 p.m.
Tournament play continues at 11 a.m. on Sunday for the 11-year-olds and noon for the 12-year-olds.
The schedule for Thomas Stadium calls for Cassopolis to take on Vicksburg at 11:30 a.m. and then Decatur to face Constantine at 2 p.m.
Lawton-Paw Paw-Marcellus and Mendon will square off at 4:30 p.m.
The final game of the day will pit Schoolcraft against Three Rivers at 7 p.m.
The tournament will continue on Monday with the first game set for 6 p.m.
