NILES – Monday night's Brandywine Community Schools Board of Educations meeting started with the honoring of coach Jim Myers.
Myers, who has been the varsity coach of football, softball and volleyball at Brandywine High School, recently won his 1,000 game. Myers was honored by the school board and given an award for his dedication to Brandywine sports over the years.
In other items of discussion, Brandywine Interim Superintendent Gary Campbell introduced and plan to have a media center at Brandywine High School.
"There is no other tool we use that we have invested in as heavily as technology. We have four different schools, with the Junior High and High School being the largest, and Bell Education Center being the smallest. Our media center is in Bell and it seems we would want to have that in the larger school," Campbell continued. "This is an excellent opportunity for us and we shouldn't let it pass without giving it a strong look."
In other news, the student handbook revisions were introduced to the board by the principals of Merritt Elementary, Brandywine Elementary and Brandywine Junior/Senior High Schools.
Also, the board approved a request for an Economics field trip to either Haiti or Ecuador. The board also passed a resolution to join the Michigan High School Athletic Assocation and the Lakeland Athletic Conference.
The board announced that ticket prices for all varsity events have increased this season from $4 to $5.
