Reds sweep Royals in season opener Wednesday

NILES – It was the 2007 Little League Season Opener for the 15-16 year old Senior Division at Thomas Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Reds took the sweep in a double header with the Royals that included wins of 11-1 in the first game and 8-1 later in the evening.
Justin Stroud got the Reds started early with a double. A couple of walked batters helped the Reds score their first run in the second inning. The Royals tied the game with a double by Andrew Brawley and single by Dave Schoenlebor.
However, the Reds would score seven runs in the next two innings, ending the game in the 5th inning when Tony Gladden tripled and scored on a passed ball at third base, followed by the singles of Corey Johnson and Diminique Pompey.

Tyler Jackson took the win in the second game of the double-header Wednesday night, giving up only four hits and striking out nine batters.
The Reds scored in the first inning with the base hit of Dominique Pompey. It wasn't until the last inning when Tony Gladden tripled bringing in two runs to clinch the win.
