NILES – Brandywine Community Schools High School Economic class is planning another trip to Haiti in 2008.
Ron Bishop, Niles High School teacher, explained the tentative plans for the trip at the regular meeting of the Board, Tuesday evening.
"These trips always hinge on the political situations at the time of the 2008 trip, we have Costa Rica and Equador, as back-up locations if needed. Haiti is our primary destination but we have connections with the other destinations that will allow even a last minute change if necessary," said Bishop, the coordinator for the trips.
Bishop explained ongoing fundraising efforts to finance the trip for the 20 students and four chaperones. The cost of the trip is set at $1,350 a person.
The video that was shown to the Board last month from the 2006 trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands has won two awards.
One is an Award of Distinction from The National Videographers, where only 17 percent of 2,500 entries qualify for the award. The other is a Telly Award, where they were one of the 18 to 25 percent of 12,000 entries to win in the bronze division.
Wednesday was the first meeting for the Board's newest trustee, Doris Schoenleber
