Congratulations to the Brandywine varsity softball team on winning the second annual Matty Kurtis Memorial softball tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Bobcats won two tough games against Three Rivers and Dowagiac to win the title, which represents Matthew Kurtis, former manager and friend to the Brandywine softball program, who passed away two years ago.
The day was a very emotional one, not only because it recognized a lost friend, but it was also Senior Day, where Angela Newman and Vanessa Zehung were honored.
The Lady Bobcats sported black bands on their arms, in memory of their dear friend Matty.
This was a well-deserved win for the Brandywine varsity softball team.
The Bobcats are now preparing for a busy week, as they will enter the district tournament this Saturday against Buchanan. The game will take place in Three Oaks at River Valley High School at 10 a.m. The winner advances to the finals.
