Today, the tennis, track and golf teams at many high schools in Michigan begin the tournament trail toward a state championship.
The regional tournaments in three sports are set to kick off today, weather permitting.
We want to wish good luck to all of our local sports teams as they take that first step toward achieving their dreams of winning a state title.
In tennis, Buchanan is once again hosting the Division 4 tournament at Leeper Park in South Bend, Ind.
Joining the Bucks will be Brandywine, Dowagiac and Edwardsburg.
The Niles boys' tennis team will be competing in the Division 2 tournament up in Jenison.
In track, the Vikings, Chieftains and Edwardsburg Eddies will head up the road to St. Joseph for the Division 2 regional.
Brandywine will head to Constantine today for the Division 3 regional, while Cassopolis will compete in the Division 4 meet, being held at Lawton.
Our golf teams will be spread all over the map for their regionals.
Niles will actually have to wait until Monday to begin competition, as they will be in Battle Creek at the Binder Park course for their Division 2 regional.
Dowagiac will travel to Jackson today to play at Cascades in the Division 3 regional.
We know that some of the regional sites are quite far away, but we would hope that family and friends would make the trip to support their respective schools during the state tournament.
If you don't feel like traveling, head on down to South Bend and take in the tennis tournament. We promise you will see some outstanding tennis being played throughout the day.
