NILES – The Niles girls' varsity soccer team defeated Coldwater in the SMAC tournament game Monday night, 2-1.
Niles dominated the majority of the game and produced many opportunities to score, finishing on one and scoring on a penalty kick. Raphaela Riegger scored with an assist from Sarah Tyler and Abby Mitchell scored on a penalty kick.
Courtney Teske started in the goal and Autumn Lucero finished in goal.
"Sarah Tyler played an outstanding game for the Vikings, winning balls and sending balls for many scoring opportunities that were not finished. Seniors Nicole Brooks, Abby Mitchell, Tearria Murphy, Gyde Nissen, Amanda Pingel and Raphaela Riegger played strong for the Vikings," head coach Denise Peter said.
Junior varsity
The Niles JV soccer team defeated Coldwater, 3-0.
Gabbie Martin scored twice for the Vikings and Lizzy Coulston finished from the midfield. Niles controlled the field and played an impressive game allowing very few opportunities for the Coldwater team.
