Judge will recognize 18 students

NILES – Eighteen students will be honored at the Mount Calvary Annual Banquet this weekend.
The Christian Education Coalition Scholarship Banquet will be held this Saturday, May 12, 6 p.m. at the Bell Building, 303 N. Third St. in Niles. Two students will receive scholarships from the church and 16 other students will be praised for their academic accomplishments.
All the students, who will be recognized for their achievement for the school year 2006-07, are members of Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bryant L. Bacon.
Keynote speaker for the event is Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Wade Harper.
McCree is a graduate of Cass Technical High School, the University of Michigan, and Stanford Law School.
Prior to becoming a judge, McCree was a trial lawyer with Lewis and Mundy, the largest minority owned law firm in the State of Michigan.
In June of 2002, Judge McCree concluded his term as President of the Association of Black Judges of Michigan. In addition to serving as a director on the boards of several community organizations, Judge McCree is a devoted supporter of the State of Michigan's Wade H. McCree, Jr. Incentive Scholarship, named after his father.
An avid runner, Judge McCree has completed the Detroit Free Press International Marathon on three occasions and is an active participant in several races in the greater Detroit area. McCree is married and has a son and daughter.
