DMS track teams finish second to Upton

St. Joseph won both ends of the junior high track meet held Tuesday at Dowagiac Middle School.
The Lady Bears scored 81 points to easily outdistance runner-up Dowagiac, which finished with 59 points. Buchanan was third with 58 points and Benton Harbor Charter fourth with 23 points.
Winning events for the Chieftains were Ashley Pritchard in the 55-meter hurdles (9.99), Elizabeth Huff in the 1,600-meters (7:08), Kaisha Martin in the high jump (4-foot-3) and 100-meters (13.09), Shatesha White in the 70-meters (9.63) and the 400-meter relay team (54.71).
Finishing second was Pritchard in the 70-meters (9.75).
Taking third were Bria Brookins (shot put) and White (long jump).
The Bears won the boy's portion of the meet with 99 points. Dowagiac was second with 84, Buchanan third with 43 and Benton Harbor Charter with three.
Taking first for the Chieftains were Darius Wilson in the 55-meter hurdles (9.35), Cody Carnell in the high jump (5-5), Correshia Rodgers in the 70-meters (8.32) and the Dowagiac 400-meter relay team.
Taking second were Ryan Smit in the 3,200-meters (12:27.15), Carnell in the hurdles (9.82), Austin Adams in the long jump (17-5) and 100-meters (11.92), Ryne Lindsey in the high jump (5-2), Chris Craft in the 400-meters (1:01) and Troy Butcher in the 70-meters (8.44).
Finishing third for the Chieftains were Tremail Butcher in the hurdles, Craft in the shot put, Tremail Butcher in the long jump, Troy Butcher in the high jump and Michael Bennett in the 200-meters.
Dowagiac will wrap up its season today in St. Joseph at the D'Agostino Relays.
