Kites fly for bond issue

NILES - Two proposals are on the ballot for the Niles Community Schools on Tuesday, May 8. Proposal 1 is for $37,165,000 and will result in a millage rate of 3.74 mills for just less than 30 years. Addressed with this proposal will be safety and security issues, along with increased technology.
Proposal 2 is to convert the first floor of Eastside School into the administrative offices, alternative high school and adult education facility. This will cost $2,370,000, or 0.24 mills for just less than 30 years.
Polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8.
Niles Township Hall will be open Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to noon for absentee ballots.
Niles City and Howard Township Hall will be open for absentee ballots on Monday.
