NILES – Niles traveled to Battle Creek Lakeview Tuesday afternoon for a pair of softball games.
The Lady Vikes walked away with two 6-0 wins, but they didn't come easy.
"We took advantage of 10 walks and came away with a very lackluster performance," Niles coach Jim Arnold said. "We missed tons of signs and we'll definitely need to play better if we expect to do well in the Mishawaka tournament this weekend."
Cricket Fisher and Karly Kennedy each had doubles for Niles, while Erica Gordon and Jenna Ignowski added singles.
Ignowski pitched a no-hitter in the circle, striking out 13 and allowing just one walk.
In game two, Ignowski picked up her 11th win of the season, striking out 13, walking two and allowing just one hit.
Fisher had three hits, Heather Daniels and Shelley Aurand each had two, Kennedy had a double and Brittney Buti, Ignowksi, Gordon and Demi Schrader all had singles.
"I'm sure the two hour bus ride had some effect on our play, but we did get two big road wins, so that's not bad at all," Arnold said.
Niles is now 12-1 overall and still ranked No. 1 in the latest coaches polls.
The Vikes head to Mishawaka on Friday for a 5 p.m. game, and play again on Saturday at 7 p.m.
