Brandywine boys’ track team holds No. 1 spot in conference

NILES – Host River Valley was handed a 117-11 loss Monday, thanks to a dominating performance by the Brandywine boys' track team.
The win keeps the Bobcats alive and undefeated in the Lakeland Conference with a 5-0 record, putting them in the No. 1 spot.
Brandywine's girls' team was defeated by the Lady Mustangs, 86-36.
Brandywine's boys' team took first place in all but one event. Mitch Cross posted a time of 45:39 in the 300 low hurdles for River Valley.
For the Bobcats, Kyle Jones threw a 40-feet-8.5 in the shot put and 111-7 in the discus. Brett Gilpin had a leap of 18-6 in the long jump and took first in the high hurdles with a time of 17:11.
Caleb Frazier cleared 5-10 in the high jump.
Brandywine's 3,200 relay team of Low, Tyler Weedon, Brian Weiger and Ricky Wood took first with a time of 8:56.23.
The 800 relay team, consisting of Gilpin, Justin Miller, Matt Duckett and Taylor Brenner finished with a time of 1:41.38.
The 400 relay team of Miller, Gilpin, Frazier and Price posted a time of 46:42 and the 1,600 relay team of Price, Wood, Brenner and Frazier ended with a time of 3:52.93.
Price posted a time of 11:89 in the 100-meter dash and a 24:19 in the 200-meter dash.
Jesse Daniels finished with a time of 56:94 in the 400-meter dash. Weiger ran a 2:10.65 in the 800 run and a 4:54.59 in the 1,600 run and Weedon had a time of 11:26.93 in the 3,200 run.
The Lady Bobcats ended with five first place finishes.
Dawn Smith had a throw of 27-feet-0 in the shot put. Kyla Molica finished the high hurdles with a time of 19:63. Jo Ferenczi posted a time of 14:93 in the 100-meter dash.
The 400 relay finished with a time of 1:01.27 and Ashley Harrell finished the 3,200 run with a time of 14:20.49.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to the Centreville Invitational at 10 a.m.
