Niles JV splits with East Lansing

NILES – The Niles junior varsity baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday with visiting East Lansing, 10-0 and 14-9.
In game one, Billy Siderits pitched a four hit shut-out to earn his sixth win of the season. After a three inning pitchers duel, the Vikings came alive scoring nine runs on eight hits to put the game out of reach.
Andrew Brawley and Dominique Pompey both hit doubles for Niles.
In game two, Niles scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-2 lead.
East Lansing then scored seven unanswered runs to regain the lead. Despite a late inning rally, the Vikes could not pull ahead.
Anthony Gladden went 3-for-3 for Niles, Pompey went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and Sean Gordon went 2-for-5.
Niles, now 12-3, hosts Battle Creek Lakeview Tuesday at Thomas Stadium.
