Brandywine baseball team captures crown

NILES – Brandywine hosted Lake Michigan Catholic and Hartford for a day of baseball Saturday.
The Bobcats took a 5-4 win in the first game against LMC, and a 16-1 win in the third and final game of the afternoon to claim the tournament title.
In game one, Derek Nichols knocked in the winning run in the eighth with two outs.
Dan Reidenbach had a double and a triple and Cameron Ondresky had two RBIs for the 'Cats.
Jesse McCombs threw seven solid innings for Brandywine, only giving up one earned run. Jake Harris picked up his fourth win when he relieved in the eighth.
In the second game of the day, Hartford took a 7-2 victory over LMC.
In game three, Brandywine used 19 hits to win the tourney.
Reidenbach had three hits and four RBIs. Noah Udell added three hits as well as Jake Harris.
Glen Ferenczi, Cam Ondresky and Kyle King each added two hits.
The Bobcats are now 10-4 on the season and will travel to Berrien Springs on Tuesday for a Lakeland Conference doubleheader.
