NILES – Only two three-inning games were played Tuesday evening at Vella Park in Niles.
The Vikings softball team hosted Benton Harbor for a Big 16 doubleheader and claimed a 17-0 win in the first game and a 15-0 win in the second.
"It got a little 'wild' out there with all the walks, errors, stolen bases, wild pitches, passed balls, not to mention the base hits we had. Give credit to Benton Harbor. They have a very young team with little playing experience returning from last year's team and with a new coach, they're starting at square one" Niles coach Jim Arnold said.
Jenna Ignowski picked up her seventh win of the season in the first game, while Demi Schrader picked up her first win of the season in the circle in game two. Erica Gordon also pitched both games for the Vikings.
On Monday, Niles met with South Bend Adams for a single game, which ended in favor of the Lady Vikes, 3-0.
Ignowski pitched her 12th career shutout during the game.
"We played a very good team really tough," Arnold said.
Niles is now 8-1 on the season and will host Coloma on Thursday for a non-conference doubleheader.
