Means tosses no-hitter as Chieftains get split

Brooke Means tossed a no-hitter as Dowagiac's junior varsity softball team split a doubleheader with host Three Rivers.
Mean struck out 10 and did not walk a batter in the Chieftains' 6-0 first game victory.
Three Rivers came back in the nightcap and defeated Dowagiac 7-4.
Linzy Kling had two hits, while Stephany Gross tripled for the Chieftains in the opening game. Dowagiac's other hit came off the bat of Katie Wood.
In the second game, Dowagiac managed five hits, including a pair from Kling. Caitlin Courtney tripled for the Chieftains, who also got singles from Means and Wood.
Brittany Gnatz and Means split time in the circle for the Chieftains, who return to action on Wednesday against visiting Mishawaka, Ind.
