Niles baseball team back on track

NILES – After losing several games over the past few weeks, the Niles varsity baseball team finally received not one, but two well deserved wins Thursday against Edwardsburg.
The Vikes took a 1-0 win on the first game, and a 2-0 win in the second.
Jake Ferguson took the win on the mound in game one, while Mike Simpson grabbed the victory in game two.
Ferguson threw seven strikeouts and allowed two walks and one hit. Simpson threw nine strikeouts, allowing two walks and two hits.
Derrick Gentile and Marcus Gautheir both suffered losses for the Eddies.
Zach Bloss was the lone top hitter on the night, going 1-for-1 with a double in the nightcap.
Niles, now 5-4 overall, will host Benton Harbor on Tuesday for a Big 16 West Division doubleheader. Game one is set for 4 p.m.
