Junior varsity Vikings split with Sturgis

NILES – The Niles JV baseball team traveled to Sturgis Thursday and split a double header with the Trojans, 13-6 and 8-10.
In game one, Tyler Jackson came in to relieve starter Josh Eaves and picked up the win allowing only one hit. Alec Taylor led Niles at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Sean Gordon hit a home run for the Vikes, his second of the season.
Despite scoring six runs in the last two innings, Niles came up short in game two.
Taylor took the loss for the Vikes. Cody Maynard led Niles offensively going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Anthony Gladden was 2-for-4.
The Vikings, now 9-2, travel to Benton Harbor Tuesday.
