Niles baseball team falls to Portage, 5-1

NILES – Niles' varsity baseball team fell to visiting Portage Northern Monday after, 5-1, in Big 16 action.
The Huskies opened the game by scoring one run in the first inning, followed by four in the second. The Vikes were held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth, when it scored its first and only run of the game.
Zach Bloss suffered the loss at the mound for the Vikes. Bloss pitched six innings with two strikeouts. Nick Hartman stepped in for one inning.
Nick Garneau took the win for the Huskies.
At bat, Bloss went 2-for-3 three with two singles.
The Vikings, now 3-2 on the season, will head to Portage Central today for another Big 16 game.
