Weather creating havoc for college teams too

NILES – A cold snap that brought snow to Michigan and Indiana, has played havoc with the college sports schedule.
Some teams have been able to squeeze in games over the past week, while others have not.
Western Michigan University's softball team played six games since April 3. The Lady Broncos are 3-3 in those contests.
Western dropped a doubleheader against Michigan on April 3, losing 5-2 and 7-0.
The Lady Broncos swept Mid-American Conference foe Ball State on April 6, winning 4-0 and 5-4.
On Sunday, Western Michigan split a MAC doubleheader with Miami. The Lady Broncos won the opener 4-2, but lost the second game 8-0.
Western Michigan is now 12-12 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
The Lady Broncos host Michigan State University today in a non-conference clash scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Eastern Michigan softball
The Eagles have had its last six games canceled due to weather.
Eastern Michigan is 10-15 overall and 3-1 in the MAC heading into today's non-conference doubleheader against host Notre Dame.
The first game at Ivy Field is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Lake Michigan softball
The Lady Indians will get back to work on Thursday when it hosts Lansing Community College beginning at 3 p.m.
Lake Michigan is 12-6 overall and 8-2 in the Western Collegiate Conference.
Northwood softball
The Timberwolves had a pair of Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheaders canceled over the weekend.
Northwood was slated to face Gannon on April 6 and Mercyhurst on April 7.
Those games will be made up later this month.
Northwood is set to play again on Thursday at Madonna in Livonia.
The Timberwolves are currently 12-11 overall and 3-1 in the GLIAC.
Lake Michigan baseball
The Indians are scheduled to get back on the diamond today at 2 p.m. when they play host to Kellogg Community College.
Lake Michigan is 9-11 overall and 3-1 in the Western Collegiate Conference.
Hope College baseball
The Flying Dutchmen had two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheaders snowed out.
Hope was supposed to play Albion on Saturday. The two schools had set Monday for the make-up, but that twin bill was canceled as well.
Hope and Albion will try and get the games in on April 16.
The Flying Dutchmen, who are 10-7 overall and 5-3 in the MIAA, are scheduled to host Kalamazoo College on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Dowagiac junior Rich Burling is hitting .294 for the Flying Dutchmen with a double and three RBIs.
