Just returned from regional competition in Detroit, Encore Dance Company is busy preparing for its spring show.
The troupe returned Sunday, March 25, from taking 21 entries to regionals at South Lyon High School.
They stayed in Novi.
"All of them qualified for nationals," Artistic Director Amy Rose said Saturday. "At the end of June we'll be heading to Las Vegas."
"We did get a Critic's Choice award," Rose added. "What that means is the judges pick two dances out of the whole competition that they would like to see at nationals – and they pay for your entry, which is super nice because it's our biggest number, 'Proud Mary.' It's a senior company production number."
Also, "Molly Seurynck got a full scholarship for master classes in Vegas," Rose said.
Encore's spring show is on tap for Saturday, April 14, at 7 p.m. at Dowagiac Middle School Performing Arts Center.
"We will hold a benefit dinner and a silent auction right before the show in the cafeteria," Rose said. "It will be a chicken/spaghetti dinner catered by Wood Fire. We have a special guest artist coming in," pianist Jim Pickley.
In February, Pickley accompanied Encore for its high-kicking "Jazz Night Out" benefit at Wood Fire.
Call the studio at Lincoln Community Center at 783-0881 for tickets.
Company dancers also have tickets, which will also be available at the door.
