Burling scores as Hope wins

Dowagiac junior Rich Burling scored a run in the first game to help Hope College sweep Alma College on Monday.
The Flying Dutchmen improved to 4-0 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and 9-4 overall with the two victories.
Hope topped Alma 10-3 in the first game and 6-5 in the nightcap.
Northwood softball
Northwood was swept by Alma College, 2-1 and 6-5.
Dowagiac's Rachel Minikel was 1-for-3 in the first game and drove in a run in the second game for Northwood.
Minikel is hitting .250 with a home run and three RBIs on the season.
Former Brandywine standout Reeta Echevarria is hitting .243 on the year with eight RBIs.
Western Michigan softball
The Western Michigan Lady Broncos swept Oakland University in a pair of 3-0 games on Tuesday.
Dowagiac sophomore Brittany Reist had a two-run double in the first game, while former Chieftain standout Jenna Stuppy was 1-for-4 in the second game and is hitting .306 with six RBIs.
