Man shot in face during home invasion

NILES – A Niles man was shot in the face during what police describe as an attempted murder and home invasion incident that occurred early Friday morning in a mobile home park in Niles.
Deputy Terry Ellis of the Berrien County Sheriff's Department said he could offer no further comment as the incident is under investigation.
According to a police report not issued until Tuesday by the Berrien County Sheriff's Department, two subjects – dressed in black and wearing black masks – entered the Rosenhagen residence at 2006 Ontario Road at about 4:32 a.m. on Friday morning.
The two apparently demanded money.
Jason Rosenhagen, 23, and Jesswin Brant, 22, allegedly fought off the suspects but were seriously injured, the police report said.
Rosenhagen was reportedly shot in the face.
"Jason is grateful that no one was killed," said Scott Rosenhagen, his father.
He reports that his son is doing well, though he will remain with his mouth wired for the next six weeks or so.
"Jason has said he still sees the flare of the gun in his sleep," his father said.
According to the police report two unknown male subjects dressed in black, with black masks, allegedly entered the Rosenhagen residence March 24 at 4:30 a.m. They allegedly demanded money.
Rosenhagen was treated at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., as was Brant. No information was available on Brant's condition or the extent of his injuries.
Sheriff's deputies ask that anyone with information regarding this incident call the county's detective bureau at 269-983-7141.
K-9 teams from Niles City Police and the Michigan State Police Bridgman Post assisted with the search for the assailants, who remain at large.
