NILES – Golf club selection can be difficult, especially when you're not sure what you're looking for or you're new to the game. And with so many different choices, like club types, designs and features, it's hard to know which one is right for you.
Whether you're looking to master your drive or your putting game, there are a lot of clubs to fit your needs.
Jason Skoglund, employee at Bobicks Pro Shop Inc. said custom club fitting is the way to go.
"Customers come in for fittings and we'll fit them with the club that's best for them," Skoglund said.
Bobicks recommends club fitting for everyone as it helps golfers find that club or set that is right for them.
"Golf has become such a custom sport that you need something to fit you and your swing. You don't want something that you can't hit, you want something that is stable and will do the job for you," Skoglund said.
Bobicks charges a small rate of $50 for the fitting session, but the bright side is that $25 of that will go towards your purchase of new clubs.
What about all the other fancy features that golfers on the course use? Tee bags, gloves, extra balls, shoes and ball markers.
Unless you're an avid golfer, a lot of these extra features aren't necessary, although they are nice to have.
Tee bags allow you to keep track of your tees and not have them fall loosely in your bag. Extra tees and balls, however, are a must as tees are often broken and balls can be lost.
Usually a golfer will wear one glove, on the lead hand (the lead hand is the top hand of your grip – for right-handed players, the left hand; for left-handed players, the right hand). Some golfers do wear gloves on both hands, but one glove is the norm.
If wearing a glove makes you uncomfortable, just be sure to use a towel before each shot to dry your palms, and always make sure your club grips are dry.
There are plenty of other golf neccesities to purchase, but if you're not an everyday golfer, they really might not be necessary. If you love the game of golf, you've probably already invested time and money into making sure your game is in tip top condition.
Bobicks has everything a golfer needs for their day on the course. Most golf courses also offer a wide variety of golfing accessories in their pro shops. Whether your just looking for a fun day on the fairways, or plan to spend all of your summer months teeing off, be sure you have everything to fit your needs and make your day as fun as possible.
