The Dowagiac varsity baseball team will be looking for a measure of revenge on Saturday when it takes on Elmwood Park (Ill.) in the opening round of the Corey Hinz Memorial Tournament at South Haven High School.
Dowagiac will face Elmwood at 11 a.m. In the other half of the bracket, host South Haven will take on Gobles, also at 11 a.m.
The winners will collide approximately a half an hour after the completion of the final first round game.
The losing teams in the opening round will square off for third place.
The Chieftains, who were 23-7-1 last season, dropped an 11-10 decision to Elmwood at last year's tournament.
Dowagiac managed to go 1-1 on the day with an 11-9 win over Gobles.
The tournament is named after Corey Hinz, who lost his life in a 1988 automobile accident.
"Corey was a young man with integrity and a zest for the game," according to a release from South Haven High School.
Dowagiac will open the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday, April 3 when it hosts Decatur in a non-conference doubleheader.
