Blue Chip hosts world’s best women pool players

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – The world's best female pool players will battle for the top spot when Blue Chip Casino Hotel, Michigan City, Indiana hosts the Great Lakes Classic March 22-25. This marks Blue Chip Casino Hotel's third hosting of the Women's Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) tournament, one of eight ESPN-televised events on the women's pro billiard tour this year and the only Midwest stop.
This year's field of 64 competitors includes the defending champion, number one-ranked British native Allison Fisher and sixth-ranked Ga-Young Kim from Korea, the surprise winner of the Carolina Classic, the first tournament on the 2007 tour and up-and-comer Xiaoting Pan from China, who finished second in the Carolina Classic and is number eight in the rankings. Indianapolis star Jeanette Lee, aka "The Black Widow," is currently ranked number 9.
Competition begins Thursday, March 22 and continues through Sunday, March 25. Tickets prices for the Thursday, March 22 and Friday March 23 day sessions, from 11 am to 5 pm, are $5 plus tax; tickets for the evening sessions on those days, from 6 pm to 11:30 pm, are $10 plus tax. On Saturday, March 24, tickets for the day session, from noon to 4 pm, and for the evening session, from 5:30 pm to midnight, cost $20 plus tax.
The semi-finals and the final match, which will be aired on ESPN at a later date, will be held from 1 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, March 25. Tickets cost $40 plus tax. No one under 21 will be admitted. For tickets, call 888-879-7711 ext. 3608 or visit the Blue Chip Casino Hotel gift shop.
