BENTON TOWNSHIP – Lake Michigan College is hosting its annual Spring Training 5K/10K Run and 5K Walk on Saturday, April 21. The race takes place on the LMC Napier Avenue Campus and combines open road and trail racing. The race is open to the public and proceeds will support the LMC Soccer Club.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the flag pole plaza in front of the Administration Building. The race begins at 9 a.m.
Participants will be divided into age categories using 5-year age brackets. All participants in the race will receive a tee shirt and the top finisher in each age group will receive a medal. The overall male and female winners will receive a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
Groups of five or more walkers or runners may also compete as a team. All team members must participate in the same distance. Those participating in the team competition will still appear in the regular overall results and are eligible for age group prizes. The winning team will receive a trophy.
The fee for all participants is $20 if paid before April 16 and $25 on race day. Registration forms can be picked up at several local businesses, including South Shore Health and Racquet Club, YWCA in St. Joseph and YMCA locations in St. Joseph and Niles.
