Shamrocks hand Bobcats 56-43 loss Friday night

BERRIEN SPRINGS – The host Shamrocks slowly pulled away Friday night to a 56-43 Lakeland Conference victory over Brandywine in the regular season finale for both squads.
The Shamrocks, who host Dowagiac (17-3) in the opening game of the Class B District Tournament at Berrien Springs tonight, led 15-11 after eight minutes of play.
Berrien Springs (17-3 overall, 12-2 LAC) grabbed a 27-15 halftime advantage on the Bobcats by outscoring Brandywine 12-4 in the second quarter.
Brandywine (8-12, 5-9 LAC) wouldn't go away as they closed the gap to 36-28 by the end of the third quarter.
But in the final period, the Bobcats were no match for the Shamrocks, who outscored them 20-15 to pull away to the victory.
Mat Demler led the Shamrocks with 17 points. Gregory Whitehead added 11.
Brandywine was led by Adam Hancock's 11 points. Matt Harvey and Caleb Frazier finished with nine and eight points respectively.
